Preventive Wellness Care

Immunizations Recommendation

We do preventive and routine care as well as diagnose and treat severe illnesses, injuries and chronic diseases for your canine and feline pets. Immunizations and Wellness Exams recommendations

 

Wellness exams play a vital role in the early detection of any future health issues and disease prevention.

Canine

Puppy Care

  • Comprehensive examinations with appropriate core and optional vaccinations for preventive care

  • Heartworm Test (for puppies over 6 month of age) and Intestinal Parasite Test with deworming and prevention for lifetime

  • Discuss Heartworm Disease and prevention for lifetime of pet

  • Discuss flea and tick prevention

  • Microchip – It is recommended to do the microchip at spay or neuter but it can easily be done as an appointment

  • Discuss puppy training and the importance of early socialization and puppy training

 

Adult Dog (1-7 years of age)

  • Comprehensive examinations with appropriate core and optional vaccinations for preventive care

  • Heartworm test and Intestinal Parasite exam with deworming and prevention for lifetime

  • Discuss flea and tick prevention

  • Dental examination with discussion of preventatives and possible need for cleaning

  • Consult on diet and weight

  • Behavior issues or changes

  • Provide diagnostic testing for chronic medications and conditions

  • Need for wellness bloodwork and/or urinalysis

 

Senior Dog (7 years and older)

Due to advancements in medical care, dogs are living longer than they ever did before. We love our canine companions and want their senior years to be as healthy and happy as possible. The size and breed of your dog will have a lot to do with his life expectancy, but in general all dogs are considered a senior at age seven. Below are recommendations to ensure that all is done to delay the onset or to slow the progress of disease and for the early detection of problems such as organ failure and osteoarthritis.

  • Comprehensive examinations with appropriate core and optional vaccinations for preventive care

  • Heartworm test and Intestinal Parasite exam with deworming and prevention for lifetime

  • Dental Examination with discussion of prevention and possible cleaning

  • Discuss Flea and tick prevention

  • Discuss behavior history. Many age related illnesses start as a behavior change at home

  • Diagnostic Tests  -  *Blood work, *urinalysis, x-rays, etc

  • If on chronic medications, discussion on appropriate monitoring tests

  • Discussion of pain and osteoarthritis prevention or management

  • Discuss utilizing diet, exercise and enrichment to combat dementia

  • Discuss heartworm, flea and tick prevention

 *Because your pet is considered a senior he/she qualifies Senior Wellness Profile which is a discount of certain bloodwork and urine.

Feline

Kitten Care

  • Comprehensive Exam with appropriate vaccinations

  • Intestinal Parasite exam with deworming

  • Discuss Heartworm Prevention and disease – Recommended for outdoor cats

  • Feline Leukemia/FIV Testing

  • Flea and tick prevention

  • Consult on diet and behavior

  • Spay or Neuter at 6 months

  • Microchip - It is recommended to do the microchip at spay or neuter but it can easily be done as an appointment

 

Adult Cat (1 to 10 years of age)

  • Comprehensive Exam with appropriate vaccinations

  • Intestinal Parasite exam with deworming

  • Consult on diet and weight

Emergency - During normal business hours please call so we are prepared for your arrival. For afterhours please check our website or our phone recording for an emergency facility

Fully stocked pharmacy - Please allow 24 to 48 hours for refills to be processed

Radiology - Digital X-ray done on premises

Ultrasound - Dr. Tony Fernandez of Atlanta Veterinary Practitioner is our on-call Ultrasound doctor

Microchip - AKC – Microchips are recommended during routine spays or neuters, but it can easily be done as a separate appointment.

Boarding - Separate facilities for dogs and cats. Your pets have their separate crate or run to themselves and are walked at least three times a day on our grassy area on the side of the building. 

Bathing - In our bathing facility you pet is bathed, its ears are cleaned and its nails are trimmed.  We do not do hair cutting because we are not a grooming facility, but we can make a few great recommendations.

Nutrition and Diet - Hills Prescription diet and Royal Canin is offered in our facility with special orders placed weekly.   Please place your order by 10am on Monday for Hills and 10am on Tuesday for Royal Canine to insure that you receive your order for the week.  

Euthanasia services - This is done at our clinic by appointment. Our staff will help you and will provide support and understanding in this difficult situation.
